Damaging wind potential around sunrise Monday

MONDAY: A powerful mountain wave wind event gets underway late tonight, and will be at its strongest around sunrise tomorrow. This means areas right along the foothills including Manitou Springs, Palmer Lake, Cascade and the west side of Colorado Springs could see wind gusts in excess of 70-90 mph. For other areas, especially east of I-25, 40-55 mph wind gusts will be possible. In Teller County, 50-60 mph gusts are possible. Once we get past 9am, winds will become a bit more spread out. Wind gusts as high as 40-50 mph can be expected throughout the day tomorrow leading to HIGH fire danger. Temps will get into the 50s and 60s tomorrow.
