Gina Kavali of 98.1 KKFM is “Southern Colorado’s Classic Rock Chick” because she doesn’t just love the brand, Gina lives it. She’s in her second stint with the station, as a part of over 30 years of radio experience. When Gina was just nine years old, a DJ played her request. Gina recorded it on her boom box, listened back to her own voice and knew right then she wanted to be on the radio. Gina describes her love for Classic Rock because of its relatability to every generation. The best music with the best lyrics, that take you through the saddest times to the happiest times in your life; all rest within a three-decade span.
Gina’s passion for Colorado Springs runs deep, from the beautiful views of Pikes Peak to the vibe Friday night on Tejon. She has a knack for finding the little hole in the wall spots that are often forgotten but carry the heartbeat of the city. Gina met her husband Brian in Colorado Springs, and they raise a wonderful boy appropriately named Lyric.
She is an autism advocate and co-created the country’s first premier speed dating event “Table Talk” for young adults on the spectrum which landed Gina a cameo on Netflix’s Emmy Award winning show “Love On the Spectrum.” Yes, she is #GinaSpeedDating. Gina has also worked as an actor/producer on indie movies, loves to travel, cook, explore new things and of course hit up a concert here in Colorado
