With what would have been Jerry Garcia's 68th birthday approaching Aug 1st, we must pay tribute to the Ultimate Hippie! In the 80's The Dead played 37 states, District of Columbia, and 9 foreign countries. California led the way with 246 shows with New York in at a distant 2nd with only 70 shows. The Grateful Dead movie was released in 1977 and is a documentary of the groups' Winterland shows. Bruce Hornsby was in a Dead cover band at one point only to become an actual member of The Grateful Dead! We miss you Jerry!
